10 YEARS OF SUCCESSFUL REAL ESTATE DEVELOPMENT AND MANAGEMENT EDUCATION AND INTERNATIONAL ACCREDITATION IN TURKEY

The Ankara University Department of Real Estate Development and Management (formerly Department of Real Estate Development), which is celebrating its 10th anniversary, was established in 2007 and then the Faculty of Applied Sciences was established on August 26, 2014 and the Department of Real Estate Development and Management was structured within the Faculty of Applied Sciences, and the first undergraduate program students admitted during the 2016-2017 academic year. On February 3, 2018, the 10th year since the foundation of our Department will have been completed. In this period, all the real estate development and management undergraduate and graduate programs have been fully opened, research and implementation programs have been established and significant academic structuring has been completed. On the other hand, after four years of intensive work, thesis and non-thesis graduate programs of the Real Estate Development and Management Department of our Faculty has been the first and only academic unit in Turkey with international accreditation completed by the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS), the top professional, educational, accreditation institution of the world in the field of real estate, environment, and construction management, since 2014. Currently, the Department of Real Estate Development and Management of the Faculty of Applied Sciences is in the process of accreditation (peer evaluation & accreditation) and accreditation of all undergraduate and graduate education programs will have been completed in 2018.

Considering the academic developments briefly summarized as well, it was decided to organize the “International Real Estate Development and Management Conference” in Ankara between February 01-03, 2018 in commemoration of the 10th foundation anniversary of the Ankara University Real Estate Development and Management Department. In the Conference, it will be possible to present and discuss forecasts and solutions for the future of the real estate sector around the World and in Turkey. There will also be opportunities to evaluate the possibilities of establishing and developing cooperation with the invited foreign experts upon their kind evaluation of the academic studies in the fields of real estate, construction, urban studies and local administrations conducted at our university.
